We have like zero community right now D: --Magicbananas486 22:25, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

So? Build it and they will come. And please sign your talk page posts! -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:23, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
We need some kind of messaging system. --Magicbananas486 22:24, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
What would we need a messaging system for? -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:25, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
I have to agree with him there, I see no need for a messaging system. Also, later on will only specific people have editing rights? -- TheSourNinja
No, why would we restrict editing rights? -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:28, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't know, it may be better for controlling bad edits and stuff. I know you could just revert it but by giving edit rights to only thoes who deserve them, or even a select few would stop this all together.-- TheSourNinja
The whole basis of a wiki is community participation. Restricting editing rights is completely contrary to that. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:35, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
The MinecraftWiki did it. UPDATE: Never-mind. :)-- TheSourNinja
The MinecraftWiki did NOT do it, in fact they have opened up editing to anonymous editing even. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:49, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Ya, that's why I put never-mind in an update.-- TheSourNinja
It's ok :D We just really want to embrace the editing community, not restrict it. You know what they say, 2 minds are better than one, and thousands are better than half a dozen :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 22:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess. :)-- TheSourNinja
It will help a lot when the game is actually released for pre-orders, there will be a demand for this information then, there will also be much more information available.--Briland 06:12, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Anyone feel like gifting me cobalt?-- TheSourNinja

Me! lol.~| Aco 02:25, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

It is "Volts"! Yep, it is! It surely is! Totally it is. Is it?[]

I have somehow somewhen on twitter read that the currency might be called Volts...
so, i personally like that name, its unique and not as boring as "credits" or so.
I was just about to create an wiki article about the Volts (ok actually i created it already, but before expanding it i would like to ask:)
Is everybody fine with calling the Cobalt currency Volts from now on, like, officially? Let me know =)
ah btw can someone delete the page "volt"? i forgot the "s" and aint got a clue how to delete pages =D -thanks!
...and another EDIT: We could call that machine where you put your loot down Volt-Converter ;)~| Aco 02:35, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Generally, we will document using whatever terms are used IN GAME. So, if they are called Volts in game, then Volts would be appropriate. If they are called Credits in game, then Credits would be appropriate. As for deleting pages, only administrators can do that (currently that would be me), so you aren't missing any clues :D -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 03:39, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, but i can not find a single "Volts" or "Credits" in the whole game...so...? ~| Aco 11:43, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Volts it is then.... or try to get clarification from the devs? -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 08:37, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Well maybe we could at least tell them that we used "Volts"...I created a bunch of articles and used "Volts" the whole time, would be a shame to erase that. so, how am i supposed to contact a dev? oO~| Aco 16:47, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Twitter? -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 16:57, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
aww yeah, Volts have been used ingame =) ~| Aco 01:57, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Skins[]

Please enable some other, lighter skins (Monobook, Vector, etc.) - as nice as this one is, it can be hard on the eyes after a while. Cheers. --Tomlough 01:44, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

This is vector. We only use vector, and only allow vector. You can feel free to make adjustments in your own personal css. User:Tomlough/vector.css That will override the primary vector skin. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon talk 01:46, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Really? I'm impressed. Cheers! :) - Tomlough 02:02, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Uniting this wiki with Fandom's Cobalt community[]

For those who have not yet heard: Last year, Gamepedia and Fandom joined forces and are now two platforms on the same network. Later this year, we'll even become one unified platform. The teams at both Gamepedia and Fandom want to encourage our communities to work together now instead of splitting their efforts and competing with each other for readers and new editors.

I'd like to know how all of you here feel about uniting with Fandom's Cobalt community. That would mean we archive one wiki - lock it from editing but keep the pages accessible to readers - and put a banner up that directs visitors towards the other, active wiki. Anyone who used to edit the now-archived wiki would be able to contribute to the active wiki, and any content on one side that's missing on the other can be moved over with edit histories intact. Note: No merger will take place if both communities don't agree to it.

The advantages of uniting on one site are clear: By working together, all fans of Cobalt could build a resource on the game more effectively, keep it up-to-date more easily, and players would no longer be confused as to which site they should turn to for information. Both wikis have very significant amounts of content. Keep in mind that later this year, both the Gamepedia and the Fandom wiki will move onto the same platform and then have a very similar if not the same layout, tool set and staff support.

So: Are you interested in merging with your partner community on Fandom? Would you be willing to edit on Fandom going forward, or would you rather keep things as they are? Please speak up! Heytots (talk) 18:58, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

I think I can speak for all of us when we say that this wiki, although extremely unfinished and has like 3 editors, we would rather not revert to fandom due to the fact that the fandom wiki for cobalt has quite literally 10 pages of content, especially considering the last edit was like 4 years ago. I see no bonus from using the fandom wiki at all, this wiki right here has a lot more work put onto it. TintedMirrors 00:56, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
I agree with TintedMirrors. I don't believe the administrator of that wiki is active at all anyways. // pfm2001 (talk)
Comparison between articles of the same subject matter on here and Fandom (https://cobalt.gamepedia.com/Predator) (https://cobalt.fandom.com/wiki/Predator). The one on Fandom contains arguably fan-made information (unless the developers clarified how Predators are powered and what type of metal is on their plating), and only 2 sentences in the main article. The Gamepedia article, though a bit barebones compared to, say, the Ninja page, is more complete and gives tips to players. Not to mention that this wiki is actively being maintained while there is no recent activity on the Fandom wiki (https://cobalt.fandom.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?days=30).
